ESPERANZA CREW:

Marc
Outboard Mechanic
[Iréne: I asked him where he's from, but he lost me somewhere in a storage space in Idaho - it was a long and complicated story. Marc lives in Denmark. I suspect he might be an alien.]

Of all the many years that I've been working for Greenpeace and on the Esperanza I have never written a web profile. I feel that it promotes too much the individual and not enough of the collective upon which Greenpeace was originally founded.

I don't really care to be a part of a mass media cult that gives everyone 15 minutes of fame. I want to part of something greater something of a more influential nature. I am perhaps the most stubborn person on board.

I am also the mechanic who looks after all the inflatables with all the funny names like African Queen, Gray whale, Novi 1 and Novi 2. Like greenpeace I am a paradox disguised as an enigma. I prefer to paint, draw, and be creative, but these skills don't seem to be in as much demand as repairing machines. Still I feel it a priviledge to be able to contribute to Greenpeace and an honor to be one of the crew on board Esperanza.

[Iréne: But he DID write something for the weblog, first time ever! Got to give the old hippie credits for that. ]
