ESPERANZA
CREW: François
(or Fañch for the friends) Volunteer deckhand France For how long have you been in Greenpeace? Nearly 3 years, first as volonteer in local groups (Toulouse and Rennes), then as activist and now as deckhand on the Esperanza. My main fights were against the nuclear tyranny in place in France, but I'm also worried about all other environmental threats, that's the reasons why I joined Greenpeace few years ago. I'm not passive and I think our actions can make people aware of these environmental problems. What is your job on board the ship? Deckhand (painting, greasing, repairing rusty equipements, coiling ropes, dropping anchor, mooring the ship, looking out during sea watches...) and also garbologist (I'm in charge of the garbage management. Sorting, collecting and, sometimes, telling off!) On the perfect day off, what do you do? All that I can't do on the day on. Most of the time it means doing nothing, but sometimes I'm able to do something else that sleeping, for example chatting with friends, reading, walking, swimming, drinking... And I also want to say: Hei! |
