Sailing towards a better world
Esperanza means hope in Spanish, and this ship and the people onboard
are full of it. Nothing energizes as much as being a part of and in proximity
of these movers and shakers of the great things to come, of the wonderful
world we are moving towards as we reach the next threshold of human understanding,
and mankind as a whole breaks on through to the other side.
As I see it there are some destructive forces in the world, and they both
fight each other and unite in their confusion, blindness, greed and madness.
Money talks and everything else including Heaven walks, is their tragic
way. Posed against these forces of death and destruction are the forces
of love, understanding and harmony. These forces manifest as organizations
like the United Nations, Amnesty International, Save the Children, Transparency
International, WWF, Doctors without Boarder and Greenpeace.
Together these networks of individuals, many more than the mentioned,
surround, confront and devour the destroyers of life and their undemocratic
ways. One day the job will be done, and the world will indeed be a very
different place. Our civilization will not only fly, it will soar, and
all the miracles around us will be apparent and obvious for all to see.
With the world in it's most encompassing and brutal stages, call it those
troublesome teenage years with too much spunk and adrenalin and not enough
wisdom and understanding, we so easily create unnecessary death and suffering
upon ourselves. It is incredibly satisfying to be able to do something,
anything, anywhere, within this network of networks. Peeling potatoes
in the galley for this crowd of Greenpeacers is just as important and
meaningful as doing actions, writing press releases or being a researcher
or scientist. Everything is connected, and I am so happy to be a part
of this web.
Nature, the universe, reality and god are just four different words for
exactly the same thing. Life is an integral part of the universe, and
the universe it's a kinda magic. The magic surrounding Greenpeace and
Esperanza is so powerful it constantly tantalizes. What goes around comes
around, both the positive and the negative. That is a law of nature. The
positive waves we create echo through eternity.
The universe gives many other rewards for hard work other than cash. Fabulous
gifts like good friends, good health, good family relations, time to savior
life, and all kinds of creature comforts like tasty foods, hot showers,
amazing things to do and fabulous sights. In Greenpeace we are constantly
showered with all these miraculous gifts the universe has to offer. So
you won't find me complaining when I get the dogwatch, oh no, I just kick
back and watch the northern lights as they flare across the nighttime
sky.
