Name:Daniel From: Mexico Job on board: Cook I’m Daniel and i'm the "food engineer" of the Esperanza :) I'm 26 years old and I’m Mexican. This is my fourth trip on Greenpeace ships, I began as a cook assistant, then I worked as a deckhand and since three trips now, as a cook. I joined Greenpeace almost four years ago as a volunteer in the Mexican office, activist, assisting in campaigns and in a project with indigenous communities providing them with solar panels to develop a productive process in their community. I strongly believe that projects like this are the ones that isolated communities need to develop a sustainable productive process. Projects that could provide them with stronger tools to adapt to the environment and to reinforce their cultural knowledge, sustainably living with nature. This part of the world is amazing... it is indescribably beautiful - the nature here is magnificent! And full of contrasts... the enormous mountains and the fiords so strong and powerful and the plants and flowers that survive in these conditions, so fragile but so alive. All the animals that live here; seals, cormorants, sea eagles, whales, fish, foxes, reindeer, and so many others make this place unique on earth. Oil has done to much bad already on the planet. An oilrig here it is just unacceptable, the damage that an oilrig could do to this pristine environment would be disastrous. I am part of Greenpeace because Ii want to be part of the solution. I want to give my daughter a better world to live in as well as for all the children in the world. They lend us the planet, it is in our hands to give it back to them at least as it is now. Con amor Siempre por mis dos cielitos... Daniel |
