Blog til you drop: the 2005 BLOGATHON

Hey kids! It's time for the annual worldwide BLOGATHON!

("Whazza blogathon," you ask? Well, Mouseketeers, scurry over to http://www.blogathon.com where you'll see that the blogathon is an annual charity fundraising event where caffeine fans all across the blogosphere stay up all night typing a minimum of one blog entry every half hour for 24 hours. Pledgers promise to donate a certain amount to a charity of their choice if the insomniac in question fulfils their mission.)

This year's Blogathon will take place August 6th-7th.

Greenpeace friends at Logical Voice, Dear Kitty and Sagrocinto will be sponsoring Greenpeace in their joint "Blogging for Greenpeace" site.

How can you help?

1. You can sponsor the blogging for Greenpeace team:

Go here to register. Registering at the site means that when the Blogathon event is finished, you will receive an email reminding you about your pledge, and asking you to forward your donation to Greenpeace. Donations go direct to Greenpeace -- neither the blogathon site nor our sponsoring bloggers handle donations.

2. You can cheer on the Blogging for Greenpeace team:

On August 6th, the Blogging for Greenpeace site will feature guest entries from Rianne Teule, a Greenpeace campaigner who will be in Hiroshima with a group of school children to mark the 60th anniversary of the first use of a nuclear weapon. There'll also be fun-and-fact filled posts from the blogging for Greenpeace team about GMOs and the full range of Greenpeace issues. Send them comments! Encouragement! Keep them awake!

3. You can blog for Greenpeace yourself:

Want to take up the challenge of blogging continuously for 24 hours? Got some 'friends' who'll pay good money to a good cause to make you stay up all night and get progressively less literate in public? GREAT, here's the blogger FAQ with all you need to know to participate.

This is a GREAT initiative, thanks a million to John at Logical Voice for kicking this off.

Peace,

--b
