World's tallest tree sit going nicely
It looks like they are still moving in, and getting settled. Unless the activists can stop it, the trees in this area will be logged, and turned into woodchips. Yeah, you read that right - 80 meter tall, 400 year old trees turned into woodchips.
The folks in the tree brought a laptop with them and are keeping a weblog. Yeah, it's fun to watch, but you should really also, ahem, "chip in".

Hi,
I'm from Tasmania, but I'm living in an expat community in Saudi Arabia. I think that what's happening to the forests in Tasmania is terrible, and wasteful too, and that it needs much more publicity, domestically and internationally. Most people outside Australia and even outside Tasmania don't know or give a shit about what's happening to the forests. For example, not one person I've met here in Saudi - and these are all well travelled internationals from all over the USA, England, Italy, you name it - don't even know that there is forest in Tasmania, most of them also don't know where Tasmania is and that it's an Australian state. There must be a way to attract people's attention.
