We have a disclaimer!!!

Steve, our light in the darkness of the Internet law system, finally took some of his precious time to help us putting order in our public rantings, providing a very articulate disclaimer which, however, might sound too legalese for some of you, so beware!

I'll add the disclaimer also on the front page, using the following deprecated tag for the link (font size="0.05" color="white") just to make sure everybody can see it.

Read if you dare.

A word from the Legal Administrator of Greenpeace International:

“Steve, we recently launched a website called Banners and Us,” Gillo wrote in an e-mail one day, out of the blue. “The purpose of the site is to feature Greenpeace people’s ideas and show a bit of the behind-the-scenes of the organisation. Since most of the postings there are personal, I was wondering if this might cause (you) some problems and, if so, maybe we need to have a disclaimer up there?”

Well, almost everything Gillo does usually ends up causing a problem, and in this case it was for me to come up with a disclaimer to explain that the opinions of people contributing to the weblog weren’t necessarily those of Greenpeace. Actually, in this case it was very easy, since the opinions of most of our New Media team, who are the main and regular contributors to the weblog, usually have opinions which have little in common with those of the entire human race, let alone Greenpeace. And anyone else who contributes will have to do so entirely at their own risk, because once those New Media guys ensnare you in a conversation, they never let you get away.

So, for the sake of all clarity, let it be known as follows: The opinions expressed on this website are the entirely personal opinions of various members of Greenpeace who should probably be busy working on some highly important and time consuming project but instead choose to make their opinions known to the rest world in the naïve belief anybody else wants to know, and those from outside Greenpeace foolhardy enough to venture into the debate. The opinions have nothing at all, absolutely, whatsoever, for all time and in any way, shape or form at all, anything to do with Greenpeace, probably never will do, definitely never ought to, and should not be construed to be so. In fact, we wash our hands of it all, completely (especially Gillo’s bits).

So now you know…
