Calming down after the storm
That's how it feels today. The first saturday in weeks that we are not in the office, it feels strange and lonely. The site is up, I have been checking it every now and then.
Some of the crew went to the Rock Werchter 2002 festival in Belgium. Some others, like me, stayed home to clean up, feed the plants, etc ... The normal life that one would have to do if you were not working 14 hours a day :) And to be able to see the final of the World Cup 2002 between Germany and Brasil.
I have been involved in quite a lot of intense, deadline driven projects and the feeling is very similar after you get to reach that deadline. But in this case, there is another sensation involved and I am sure it has to do with the fact that we are all here for the same reason, to work for a clean environment, sustainable and more equitable world. The driving force behind all of us is that we believe in what we are doing (IMHO) and that creates an intense bond in the team.
In other news, last wednesday, we held the OpenACS Social in our offices in Amsterdam. (OpenACS is the framework behind the new Greenpeace site). We met a bunch of very interesting people, passionate about this software and the possibilities it can bring to a whole different variety of areas (ranging from non-profits, academia, travel agents, etc ...). It was an interesting evening for us, as Greenpeace.org is one of the high-profile sites using OpenACS, and for the OpenACS people as-well, since many of them had never met face to face.
